Berkadia Commercial Mortgage LLC (Berkadia) announced today that Jan Sternin has joined the company as a senior vice president and member of the servicing division’s senior management team. Starting on Monday, June 11, 2012, Sternin will be based in Berkadia’s New York office and will be reporting to Executive Vice President Mark McCool. With more than 25 years of experience in commercial mortgage finance, Sternin will be leading efforts to expand and grow Berkadia’s servicing capabilities and portfolio.

She will have an immediate,and positive impact on our business,” said McCool. “With her industry experience and leadership role in virtually every major issue confronting the servicing industry over the past decade, we are greatly looking forward to having her join our team.”
Sternin will be responsible for marketing and business development for the company’s servicing division, driving growth for its various lines of business including fee-for-service and special servicing. She will also be assisting the company’s executive team with investor relations.
Sternin previously served as the managing director of business development for Situs, based in Houston, Texas. There she was responsible for developing and implementing global strategic business initiatives andclient relations. Prior to joining Situs, Sternin served as senior vice president of commercial and multifamily for the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and CEO of MISMO, the MBA’s technology initiative for creating uniform data standards for the real estate finance community.
Over the course of her career, Sternin has also worked with numerous government agencies including the Resolution Trust Corporation, the Office of Thrift Supervision, the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, and the Federal Home Loan Banking System. She currently serves on the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council Board of Governors and previously served on the MBA’s Commercial Board of Governors.
Sternin earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Baker University and Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She received her Certified Mortgage Banker designation in 2005.
