Damu Bashyam is Executive Vice President – Chief Information and Innovation Officer and a member of Berkadia’s Management Committee. In this role, Damu leads the Innovation organization, spanning comprehensive technology strategy, product development, user experience design, engineering, data and analytics, artificial intelligence, and enterprise IT. Under his leadership, Berkadia has modernized technology platforms and enabled industry-leading data, and AI-driven capabilities that deliver measurable business outcomes, all while investing in Berkadia’s culture and talent transformation.
Before joining Berkadia, Damu held several senior leadership roles in banking and telecommunications. As Chief Information and Digital Officer at Columbia Bank, he led an enterprise-wide technology transformation, modernized digital banking and lending platforms, and oversaw the integration of regional bank acquisitions. At JPMorgan Chase, he served as Chief Technology Officer for Consumer Banking, overseeing technology delivery for nationwide retail banking branches, ATM networks, and debit platforms, and leading global teams to implement scalable, customer-focused innovations that transformed the client experience. Earlier in his career, Damu spent 18 years at Verizon in CIO-level roles, leading complex technology and business initiatives at the forefront of wireless transformation and driving growth and profitability.
Damu holds an MBA in General Management from the Kellogg School of Management, a Master’s in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science & Engineering from Bangalore University. He has been recognized with numerous industry awards for his leadership and contributions to technology and innovation. A passionate advocate for innovation, workforce development, and community impact, he serves on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of New York & Northern New Jersey, is a member of The Wall Street Journal Technology Council, and contributes to several technology and AI advisory boards.
