At Berkadia, we redefine commercial real estate by offering long-term investments through our mortgage bankers and investment sales advisors. Our producers are industry experts with diverse backgrounds and exceptional market knowledge. When you choose Berkadia, you’re choosing a long-term relationship that goes further than the transaction; you are being Backed by the Best.
Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Paul Shen, Vice President of Investment Sales in Irvine, California, where he oversees brokerage operations for Southern California. Equipped with a background in corporate M&A transaction law, Shen’s passion lies in leveraging his unique expertise to make a broader and more meaningful impact on clients and the industry.

“What I enjoy most about brokerage and investment sales is the pace of our business and the ability to be a resource and advisor to our clients with a level of connectivity to the deals, the deal participants, and the market with a level of impact I wasn’t able to have in my previous career as an attorney,” Shen said. “Being at Berkadia has given me an opportunity and exposure to clients with more diversity and broader reach than I have ever had before and I really value the impact I can provide to Berkadia and to our clients.”
Shen joined Berkadia in 2021 following its acquisition of Moran & Company where he previously served as a director in the Orange County office. Despite his hesitancy transitioning from a small, boutique firm to a larger organization, he found Berkadia preserved the intimate, small company feel while providing superior resources, technology, and support.
“Real estate capital markets grow and evolve and the confidence that our clients have in Berkadia is that we have a deep, specialized knowledge and experience in local real estate markets combined with a broader perspective of the interconnectedness of real estate and everything else,” he said.
Shen added that it’s Berkadia’s “top-down focus” on collaboration and team-oriented approach to business that sets it apart from others in the industry.
“This goes back to the culture at Berkadia and its ability to scale resources, talent, reach, and still maintain the intimacy and nimbleness of a small company culture,” he concluded. “The ability to reach through the network and have confidence in Berkadia partners across geographic or specialty groups, instantly tapping into decades of experience, means that Berkadia can support our clients better, faster, and more completely than any of our competitors.”
