My time at Berkadia so far has been incredibly positive already. The culture here is genuine, supportive, and driven, which has been abundantly clear from the start.

Although I majored in Marketing, my experience in Procurement has revealed a passion for this area of business that I might not have discovered otherwise. In my procurement role, I gain a deeper understanding of workflows and processes, allowing me to support every Berkadian by ensuring they have the necessary software and hardware to perform their tasks effectively.
If you’ve had other internships, how does Berkadia’s internship program differ? Why?
The internship program at Berkadia has been incredibly structured and well established. From my badge and equipment being ready for me before I even started, to being able to participate in a speaker session with CEO Justin Wheeler, I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve already had and look forward to others that I know will come.
How are you applying your coursework in this role? What do you expect to take away from this role?
I’m leveraging the skills I’ve gained at St. Joe’s to enhance efficiency and foster effective connections. My coursework equipped me with analytical skills, enabling me to assist in optimizing processes and identifying efficiencies. Additionally, I am applying my communication abilities to build strong relationships with team members and peers.
What specific skills or knowledge have you gained from this internship?
I have been actively enhancing my Excel skills by taking on increasingly complex tasks that challenge me to apply more advanced functions and techniques. Through these assignments, I have gained proficiency in data analysis, pivot tables, and formula creation, significantly improving my ability to manage and interpret data effectively. This continuous learning not only strengthens my current knowledge but also empowers me to contribute more effectively to team projects and decision-making processes.
What advice would you give someone interested in interning at Berkadia?
For anyone considering an internship with Berkadia, I would encourage them to do thorough research to ensure the company aligns with their interests. Additionally, I would recommend networking and connecting with as many Berkadians as possible to truly understand the company culture. Lastly, staying engaged and curious throughout the application, interview, and internship process is essential for making the most of the experience and setting yourself up for success.
What is the best piece of advice you have received this summer?
Throughout my “Meet to Learns,” I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with incredible employees, and common advice I’ve received is to “be a sponge” and “network.” As someone who is early in their career, I take this to heart. Being a sponge allows me to absorb essential experience and knowledge, as well as expand my perspective across various roles and functions, which is invaluable and something I’m truly grateful for.
