Be Berkadia Spotlight: Britt Fuller

At Berkadia, we are dedicated to fostering the growth of our early career professionals, ensuring they have a solid foundation for their future in the industry. We are committed to providing personal development opportunities, training, and mentorship. We value our people and are passionate about ensuring that each individual has the tools they need to succeed.

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Britt Fuller, Real Estate Analyst, who sits in our Boston office, to learn more about his experience in our Rotational Analyst Program and how it prepared him for his full-time role as a mortgage banking analyst. Our Rotational Analyst Program is a one-year program that takes a dynamic approach to analyst onboarding and development across two of Berkadia’s three most critical platforms – mortgage banking, investment sales and underwriting.

Describe your experience in the Rotational Analyst Program.

I supported both the investment sales and mortgage banking teams as a rotational analyst in Boston. On the investment sales platform, I assisted in orchestrating multifamily investment valuations and memorandums for acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of institutional and private capital clients. On the mortgage banking side, I assisted the financing of multifamily and manufactured housing properties by arranging agency, bank, CMBS, debt fund, and life company debt. Both rotations included significant financial analysis, market research, and due diligence of the properties and sponsors.

What excites you most about starting your early career with Berkadia?

The learning potential. I’ve been fortunate enough to see a multitude of different multifamily transactions and financing solutions over the past year. Each deal presents different nuances to navigate, offering many learning opportunities. This experience, enhanced through the approachable leadership in Boston, has been significant towards my early development and I am very excited to keep refining my knowledge through continued exposure.

What stood out about Berkadia when you were interviewing for full-time roles and early career opportunities?

I was very excited about Berkadia’s Rotational Analyst Program and the opportunity to “test the waters” before diving into either the investment sales or debt side of the real estate business. It’s difficult to know where your interests and skillsets lie when coming out of college, and the grace period offered through the rotational program eases that commitment. I found Berkadia’s program most compelling as the company clearly allotted significant resources and personnel toward its success. I knew that this structure would prove beneficial to my own development.

What is the best piece of advice you have received so far in your full-time role?

“Anticipate and Act” – this piece of advice communicates the idea of proactivity. Essentially, do not wait for someone to request something from you. Try to identify what needs to be done for a certain task, get ahead of it, and find a solution. Not only does this mindset make the lives of your colleagues easier, but it also teaches healthy habits of taking initiative and creative thinking. These skills are essential to the brokerage industry and managing client relationships.

How have your leaders and colleagues supported your professional development during your rotational program?

The leaders in our office have supported my early professional development in many ways, but most notably through industry engagement. They have guided me towards programs and events such as REFA and Bisnow to connect with other young real estate professionals in the Boston area. Our colleagues recognize that these relationships are the foundation of our business, and it’s nice to know that they care about our individual development.

What advice would you give someone interested in working at Berkadia?

Ask a client about Berkadia. Berkadia’s deep roster of high-quality people drives its national reputation. That, paired with an extensive network of resources and a successful track record, provides the company with a leading edge in the industry. Once you understand the full picture, it’s hard to pass on an opportunity like Berkadia.

Describe your current role at Berkadia.

Since finishing the rotational analyst program, I’ve transitioned full-time under Senior Director Jackie Meagher as a mortgage banking analyst in Boston. Jackie specializes in financing multifamily assets and capitalizing development projects throughout the country. I’m excited to continue my early development by taking on more responsibility as her sole analyst and learning by her side.
