Denver, Colorado – April 1, 2025 – Berkadia, a distinguished leader in the commercial real estate sector, is pleased to announce the strategic addition of a new role within its Affordable Housing platform: Managing Director – Capital Markets. We are excited to welcome Rob Schultz to this position, where he will report to Executive Vice President – Head of Affordable Housing, David Leopold. Schultz will be based in Denver, Colorado and began his role on April 1.
As Managing Director – Capital Markets, Schultz will be primarily responsible for developing and managing relationships with investors and structuring innovative financial solutions to support Berkadia Affordable Housing’s Mortgage Banking platform. He will focus on capital needs beyond permanent Affordable Housing debt, including bridge and construction loans, mezzanine financing, and preferred equity.
“As the country’s leading Affordable Housing mortgage banking company, Berkadia is thrilled to continue the growth of the business with this new role. Expanding our capital markets reach will benefit our clients across Berkadia’s integrated platform, including Tax Credit Syndication and Affordable Investment Sales,” said Leopold. “Rob’s extensive expertise in structured finance, securitization and all facets of Affordable Housing capital structuring make him the perfect choice to lead this initiative.”
“With Berkadia’s focus on Affordable Housing and my tax-exempt bond experience, structured finance background, and current developer relationships, Berkadia was the natural fit,” said Schultz. “I look forward to supporting the team’s growth with the addition of new innovative capital sources.”
Rob Schultz joins Berkadia from Greystone Housing Impact Investors LP (‘GHI’/fka ‘ATAX’, or the ‘Fund’), an affiliate of Greystone Servicing Company, where he served as Managing Director. In his previous roles, he was a lead on the origination platform and instrumental in growing the Fund from approximately $325 million in 2012 to over $1.6 billion today. His success was driven by cultivating relationships with nationally recognized developers and real estate companies as a private placement bond purchaser.
Schultz holds a B.S. with a major in Finance and a minor in Math from Miami University, and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from Loyola University in Chicago.
