Prior to joining Berkadia, John was owner of JC Cap, then Senior Director of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp, then Principal in the Kansas City office of Johnson Capital from November 2006 until the company was sold in October 2015. From 1998-2006, John was a Producer in GMACCM/ Capmark’s Kansas City office which is now Berkadia.
Throughout his twenty-five plus year career in Mortgage Banking, he has specialized in providing permanent and bridge debt financing on all types of income-producing properties including multifamily, retail, office, industrial, hospitality, self-storage, owner-user, and new construction. Schorgl is an expert in placing loans with each of the agency lenders including FHA/HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as well as non-agency lending such as life insurance companies, conduit lenders, banks, and bridge lenders. John has served on numerous industry panels and penned articles including those sponsored by InterFace Conference Group, CCIM, Midwest Real Estate News, and the Kansas City Business Journal. He has decades of deal experience structuring tough transactions involving permanent financing, construction financing, bridge and mezzanine loans, and equity capital for a variety type of transactions including more complicated deals involving project-based Section 8 HAP contracts, tax exempt bonds, Federal and State tax credits, LIHTC, CID, and TIF projects.
He is also active in his community with many charities include Boys Hope, Upper Room, St. Michael’s, Heartland Therapeutic Riding, as well as, putting on the TFT Horse Show every year over Memorial Day weekend which raises thousands of dollars for local charities. John earned his BSBA in Finance/Accounting from the University of Missouri in 1993, an MBA from Rockhurst University in 1995, and his CCIM real estate designation in 2010.
